THE first of this year’s Irish Pony Club mounted games qualifiers for the Dublin Horse Show took place last Saturday at the Gorey Agricultural Show where Island Green took the top 10 points ahead of Duhallow (nine) and Shillelagh (eight). Qualification continues tomorrow at Athlone followed by Charleville (June 29th) and Carnew (July 20th).

Qualification for the Connolly’s Red Mills eventing championships, which take place in Ballindenisk over the weekend of August 17th and 18th, began two weeks ago when the Carlow Branch hosted the first leg in Bunclody. Unfortunately, it was a most disappointing day for the large entry in the two Intermediate classes where the majority of competitors were eliminated.
