THE Irish Pony Club was strangely split last Sunday with its dressage enthusiasts competing at Spruce Lodge while 94 members, representing branches countrywide, descended on CoilÓg Equestrian Centre for the IPC show jumping Classic championship finals for which they had to pre-qualify.

The feature class, the 1.20m Show Jumping Classic, was won by Sligo’s Hugo Filan, a regular competitor in this series, who recorded a well-judged clear round on the Grade A gelding Wehope, a chesnut by Cruising out of Ballinakill Clover (by Clover Hill) who he competes under Showjumping Ireland rules. From the opposite end of the country, Ann-Marie Hynes finished second for West Waterford on Busy Lizzie.
