THE United and Carbery Branches of the Irish Pony Club joined forces to run a Connolly’s Red Mills eventing qualifier last Sunday at Ballindenisk where, the previous weekend, the Fell family had welcomed Eventing Ireland to their Co Cork venue.

Kate Atkinson’s journey over from the Co Clare Branch country proved worthwhile as she won the seven-strong Open class on the Connemara Creggrush Macbride (35.3). The show jumping phase caused plenty of problems at this level and even Atkinson had a pole down with the nine-year-old Glencarrig Patrick gelding.
