Legatissimo stayed on strongly to beat Lucida in the Group 1 Qipco 1000 Guineas (British Champions Series), the pair finishing clear of third-placed Tiggy Wiggy. The David Wachman-trained bay, whom Newsells Park Stud bred, easily won a nine and a half furlong listed contest on her previous outing and she now looks like a major candidate for next month's Group 1 Investec Oaks.

She is a daughter of the retired Coolmore Stud stallion Danehill Dancer (by Danehill), she is a 350,000gns graduate of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, and she is the third foal out of the 10 furlong scorer Yummy Mummy (by Montjeu). Her dam is a full-sister to the Group 1 Irish Derby and Group 1 Gold Cup hero Fame And Glory.

Cirrus Des Aigles won the Group 1 Prix Ganay over 10 and a half furlongs on very soft ground at Longchamp, his third success in the race, his seventh victory at the highest level, and win number 22 from 62 starts. The multi-millionaire is now nine years old.

He was bred by Yvon Lelimouzin and Benoit Deschamps, he is trained by Corine Barande-Barbe, and he is easily the best horse sired by the classic placed Even Top (by Topanoora). His siblings include the multiple winner Mesnil Des Aigles (by Neverneyev) and his unraced dam Taille De Guepe (by Septieme Ciel) is distantly related to several stakes winners, including the juvenile Group 3 scorer Banjer (by Baldric).

Able Friend: The brilliant Hong Kong miler notched up his fourth victory at the highest international level when taking the Group 1 Champions Mile at Sha Tin this morning.

The John Moore-trained gelding was bred in Australia by Ramsey Pastoral Co Pty Ltd, he may be heading to Ascot in June for the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes, and he is a four-year-old in the southern hemisphere. He is a son of the Kildangan Stud ace Shamardal (by Giant's Causeway), he is out of the Australian stakes winner Ponte Piccolo (by Volksraad), and he comes from the family of the Irish 2000 Guineas-placed Sovereign Edition (by Sovereign Path) who was a champion sire in New Zealand.

Bragging: Juddmonte Farms's homebred four-year-old won the Group 2 Charm Spirit Dahlia Stakes over nine furlongs at Newmarket, her fourth win from seven starts and her first blacktype success. She is trained by Sir Michael Stoute.

She is a daughter of the Three Chimneys Farm stallion Exchange Rate (by Danzig), she is out of the multiple winner Boasting (by Kris S), and her grandam Proud Fact (by Known Fact) is a stakes winning half-sister to the Group 1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas) scorer Houseproud (by Riverman).

Olorda: Bred in Germany by Gestut Berwangerhor, and trained by Michael Figge, the Lord Of England (by Dashing Blade) three-year-old won the Group 3 Prix Vanteaux over the extended nine furlongs at Longchamp. She is a full-sister to last year's Group 2 Derby Italiano third Oil Of England, and her stakes-placed dam Oligarchica (by Desert King) is out of a full-sister to the Group 3 scorer Ostwahl (by Waajib).

Alex Me Boy: The four-year-old son of Gilltown Stud stallion Dalakhani (by Darshaan) won the Group 3 Prix de Barbeville over one mile, seven and a half furlongs in very soft ground at Longchamp, a first blacktype success for the now Andreas Wohler-trained colt.

He was bred by the partnership of Orpendale, Chelston & Wynatt, and he is the third foal out of the 2006 Group 1 Oaks and Group 1 Irish Oaks heroine Alexandrova (by Sadler's Wells).

Jazzi Top won the Listed Tweenhills Stallions Pretty Polly Stakes over 10 furlongs at Newmarket, a second win from four starts for the John Gosden-trained three-year-old. She was bred by Meon Valley Stud, she is a daughter of Danehill Dancer (by Danehill) and she is a half-sister to the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes and Group 1 Prix Jean Romanet winner Izzi Top (by Pivotal).

Her dam Zee Zee Top (by Zafonic) is a Group 1 winning half-sister to the Group 1 stars Kayf Tara (by Sadler's Wells) and Opera House (by Sadler's Wells), and her grandam is the Group 1 Irish Oaks heroine Colorspin (by High Top).

Gleneagles is the Group 1 Qipco 2000 Guineas (British Champions Series) hero of 2015, taking the mile classic at Newmarket in good style from Territories (by Invincible Spirit) and Ivawood (by Zebedee).

The Aidan O'Brien-trained colt is the second foal and second classic winner out of the Group 2 Cherry Hinton Stakes winner You'resothrilling (by Storm Cat), and he is bred by the You'resothrilling Syndicate.

Last year his full-sister Marvellous (by Galileo) won the Group 1 Irish 1000 Guineas. The mare is a full-sister to the multiple Group 1 star and multiple champion sire Giant's Causeway, which will make Gleneagles and exciting addition to the stallion ranks when his racing career comes to an end.

American Pharoah won the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands over 10 furlongs on the dirt at Churchill Downs, his fifth win from six starts and his fourth victory at the highest level. The Bob Baffert-trained bay is owned and bred by Zayat Stables LLC.

He is a second-crop son of the 2009 Kentucky Derby runner-up Pioneerof The Nile (by Empire Maker), who stands at WinStar Farm in Kentucky, and he is the second foal out of Littleprincessemma (by Yankee Gentleman). His grandam is the stakes winner Exclusive Rosette (by Ecliptical) and she is the dam of the Grade 2 scorer Storm Wolf (by Stormin Fever) and of the Grade 1-placed pattern scorer Misty Rosette (by Stormin Fever).

Dame Dorothy: A Grade 3 scorer as a three-year-old last October, she has added the Grade 1 Humana Distaff Stakes over seven furlongs at Churchill Downs. The Todd Pletcher-trained filly, who was bred by Derry Meeting Farm, is a half-sister to the 2007 classic placed Group 1 Prix Vermeille heroine Mrs Lindsay (by Theatrical).

That French-trained filly also won the Grade 1 E P Taylor Stakes, and their dam Vole Vole Monamour (by Woodman) is out of A Votre Sante (by Irish River), a stakes winning grand-daughter of Mrs Penny (by Great Nephew). That dual champion, whom Derry Meeting Farm also bred, won the Group 1 Prix de Diane (French Oaks), the Group 1 Prix Vermeille and the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes, and the races in which she was placed included the Group 1 1000 Guineas, the Group 1 Irish 1000 Guineas, and the Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes.

Dame Dorothy is a daughter of the classic winner and Jonabell Farm stallion Bernardini (by A.P. Indy).

Finnegans Wake: The Peter Miller-trained six-year-old got up on the line to take the Grade 1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic Stakes over nine furlongs on firm turf at Churchill Downs, a first victory at the highest level for the triple Grade 2 scorer. He was bred by Jerry Crawford.

His Group/Grade 1-winning sire is closely related to Frankel (by Galileo). Powerscourt (by Sadler's Wells), who moved to Turkey in 2010, is out of Rainbow Lake (by Rainbow Quest), and she is the pattern winning dam of Frankel's stakes winning dam Kind (by Danehill).

Finnegans Wake is the first foal out of the stakes placed Boat's Ghost (by Silver Ghost), and although his half-sister Puca (by Big Brown) was unplaced in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks on Friday, she was runner-up in the Grade 2 Gazelle Stakes at Aqueduct on her previous start. Their third dam is the dual stakes winner Native Boat (by Native Royalty).

Second Step: Merry Fox Stud Ltd's homebred four-year-old claimed a notable scalp when getting up on the line to pip Telescope in the Group 2 Dunaden At Overbury Jockey Club Stakes over a mile and a half at Newmarket.

The Luca Cumani-trained gelding, who won the Listed Finale Stakes at the Curragh in October, is a son of the Gilltown Stud stallion Dalakhani (by Darshaan). His dam My Dark Rosaleen (by Sadler's Wells) was only placed but is a full-sister to Silk And Scarlet, the Group 2-winning dam of the international Group/Grade 1 scorers Eishin Apollon (by Giant's Causeway), Master Of Hounds (by Kingmambo) and Minorette (by Smart Strike).

Goldream: The Robert Cowell-trained six-year-old won the Group 3 Pearl Bloodstock Palace House Stakes over five furlongs at Newmarket. It is his fifth win from 29 starts and his first blacktype success.

The gelding was bred by Tsega Breeding Ltd, he is a son of Banstead Manor Stud's outstanding sire Oasis Dream (by Green Desert), and he is out of Clizia (by Machiavellian). His dam is a half-sister to the multiple stakes winning middle-distance horse Mont Rocher (by Caerleon) and his grandam Cuixmala (by Highest Honor) is a half-sister to the multiple Group 1 star and highly influential sire Montjeu (by Sadler's Wells).

Miss Marjurie: A daughter of the former Derrinstown Stud team member Marju (by Last Tycoon), the Denis Coakley-trained mare won the Listed Betfred TV EBF Stallions Daisy Warwick Stakes over a mile and a half at Goodwood. It is her fourth win from 14 starts and her first blacktype success.

The five-year-old was bred by Coleman Bloodstock Ltd, and as her dam Kazatzka (by Groom Dancer) is a half-sister to Soviet Song (by Marju), one could describe Miss Marjurie as being a three-parts sister to that five-times Group 1 star.

Don't Be: The Sir Mark Prescott-trained five-year-old won the Listed Betfred “Double Delight” British Stallion Studs EBF Conqueror Stakes over a mile at Goodwood, her seventh win overall and her first blacktype success.

She was bred by P E Barrett, she is a 90,000gns graduate of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale in Newmarket, and she the second foal out of the blacktype placed sprinter Faslen (by Fasliyev). Her third dam Sleepytime (by Royal Academy) won the Group 1 1000 Guineas in 1997, and her sire Cape Cross (by Green Desert) stands at Kildangan Stud.

Best Of Times: Godolphin's son of Dubawi (by Dubai Millennium) won the Listed Harbour Watch Newmarket Stakes over 10 furlongs, his third win from four starts.

The Darley-bred three-year-old is trained by Saeed bin Suroor, he is a half-brother to the winning filly Rosewater (by Pivotal), and his dam Nabati (by Rahy) is out of the Group 2 scorer Wajd (by Northern Dancer), which makes her a half-sister to the Group 1 St Leger hero Nedawi (by Rainbow Quest).

His third dam is the great racehorse and broodmare Dahlia (by Vaguely Noble), dam of the Group/Grade 1 stars Dahar (by Lyphard), Rivlia (by Riverman), Delegant (by Grey Dawn II) and Dahlia's Dreamer (by Theatrical).

Lovely Maria: Last month's Grade 1 Ashland Stakes heroine added the Grade 1 Longines Kentucky Oaks over nine furlongs on the dirt at Churchill Downs. The Larry Jones-trained bay represents the first crop of the Grade 1 winning sprinter and Airdrie Stud stallion Majesticperfection (by Harlan's Holiday).

She was bred by Olin B Gentry and Thomas B Gaines, and she is the third foal out of Thundercup (by Thunder Gulch). The mare was unraced but her eight successful siblings include the prolific stakes winner Rare Blend (by Bates Motel), who won at up to Grade 2 level, and that talented performer became the dam of Grade 3 scorer Rare Gift (by Unbridled's Song).

Bawina: Owned and bred by the Wertheimer brothers, last season's Group 3 scorer took the Group 2 Prix du Muguet over a mile at Saint-Cloud. It is her fifth win from nine starts and her third blacktype success.

The four-year-old is a daughter of Dalham Hall Stud's outstanding sire Dubawi (by Dubai Millennium), she is a half-sister to the Swiss Derby (not blacktype) winner Crosstown (by Cape Cross), and her dam Esneh (by Sadler's Wells) is a half-sister to the Group 1 Prix de Diane (French Oaks) heroine Egyptband (by Dixieland Band). The mare is also a half-sister to the high-class dual-purpose gelding Northerntown (by Manila), a pattern winner on the flat and dual Grade 2 scorer over fences in France.

Shining Emerald: A pattern placed stakes winner for the Paul Deegan stable, the four-year-old is now with Andreas Wohler in Germany and he was an easy winner of the Group 3 Bankhaus von der Heydt – Silberne Peitsche over six and a half furlongs at Munich.

The four-year-old is a gelded son of the Rathasker Stud stallion Clodovil (by Danehill), he was bred by Rabbah Bloodstock Ltd, and he is the best of several winners out of Janayen (by Zafonic). His grandam Saafeya (by Sadler's Wells) is a pattern placed triple stakes winner, and more distant relations include the Grade 1 scorer Link River (by Gone West) and the Group/Grade 2 winners Spacious (by Nayef), Dimension (by Medicean) and Exchange Rate (by Danzig).
