THE strengthened programme for older fillies has revealed some outstanding performers in recent years, and with the way that Variable won the Listed Go Racing in Kildare Finale Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday, it could be exciting to find out what she might achieve if kept in training as a four-year-old.

Khalid Abdullah’s homebred daughter of Sea The Stars (by Cape Cross) took the 12-furlong event by three lengths, on what was only her fourth start, and as she is out of the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac winner Proportional (by Beat Hollow), she is bred to succeed at higher levels. The bay is the second foal of her dam, the mare’s juvenile colt has been named Wimpole (by Zamindar), and they have an eight and a half month old half-sister from the second crop of the great Frankel (by Galileo).
