LEAN Araig got off the mark when scoring by four and a half lengths in a three mile handicap hurdle at Punchestown last month and then followed up with a narrow victory in a similar contest over the same course and distance three weeks later.

With stamina clearly a strong suit for him, it was quite a bold move to drop him back to two miles at Naas on Sunday, but the gamble paid off and he completed his hat-trick with victory in the Grade 2 Paddy Power Shops Better Value Novice Hurdle.
