ROBBIE Power, Henry de Bromhead and Derek Fox were among the winners at this week’s McCoy Awards, presented at Cheltenham Racecourse on Wednesday night in front of an audience of 430 people.

Robbie was the recipient of the Outstanding Contribution award. He retired at the Punchestown Festival in April, having partnered some 665 winners, of which 21 came at Grade 1 level. Henry was honoured for completing the Champion Hurdle-Gold Cup double (again) and Derek Fox picked up the Ride of the Season award for his well-timed Cheltenham Festival success aboard Corach Rambler.

Robbie said: “It was a bit of a shock really, I didn’t expect to come over here for that. Henry (de Bromhead) asked me to come over and receive his award and I was happy to do that, but I wasn’t expecting anything else! I had a fantastic career.”
