HERE’S a young man going places. Luke Norton, a student from Granard, who is hoping to attend CAFRE in the future, has ambitions to be a trainer and currently works part time for Ken Parkhill in Trim Co Meath. Luke and his team of Lauren O’Neill and Cian McGrath, have qualified for the Junk Kouture regional finals through their school Cnoc Mhuire, Granard, Co Longford.

Junk Kouture is a national competition which encourages young designers to create wearable fashion out of materials which would otherwise find themselves in the bin. Luke entered the competition last year with a dress called Pretty Poll Topper made completely out of election materials. Out of hundreds of entries, his team was successful and came home with the Bank of Ireland Enterprise Award.
