RACEGOER Nick Coen will never be forgotten by his many friends on the track and the Cabinteely man was in everyone’s thoughts at this week’s Curragh Awards (see page 19).
Nick’s parents Patrick and Ellen brought alone a magnificent horseshoe sculpture created in memory of their son by artist Tom Hill.
Using 18 steel shoes worn by some of the greats of the turf, Tom sculpted a racehorse’s head and this unique creation was widely admired by everyone at this week’s awards. The shoes used were worn by the likes of Istabraq, Dawn Approach, Invincible Spirit, Special Tiara, Sea The Stars, Rule The World and Don Cossack.
