ONE day she could easily be President of Ireland but for now Grand National-winning jockey Rachael Blackmore will act as ambassador for the Jockey Club West Region in Britain, which includes both Aintree and Cheltenham Racecourses.

Blackmore rewrote the history books in April by becoming the first female jockey to win the world’s greatest steeplechase, on Minella Times, in its 182-year history. The 32-year-old jockey also collected the Ruby Walsh Trophy at the Cheltenham festival supporting children’s charity WellChild in March, partnering an incredible six winners across the four days to take the leading jockey award. Five of her six Cheltenham winners in 2021 came at Grade 1 level and included Honeysuckle in the Unibet Champion Hurdle.
