It was hard to break up the pre-dinner chat among guests at the HRI Awards at the Clayton Hotel as they were serenaded by Frank McNamara before the serious business of dinner and admiring the winners

The Irish Field’s editor Leo Powell will be armed with this lovely trophy to present to winning connections of the final race at this year’s Christmas Festival at Limerick on December 29th. The trophy was sourced from Hugh Statham Jeweller in Naas, where Hugh, Gabriella and the team have been supplying most of the paper’s trophies now for more than 15 years.

BILLY Lee has had a wonderful year and his Group 2 win at Leopardstown on Space Traveller was this week voted Ride of the Year in a public vote, having been nominated by Pat Smullen. The result was well received by a good contingent of Limerick people scattered through the tables at the HRI Awards dinner at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Rd, Dublin last Tuesday.
