ALL the talk this week may have been of the possiblity of a series of Garth Brooks concerts in Dublin next year but during the Curragh’s race day on Sunday, we got a glimpse of some serious singing talents on our own back door.

As part of a very moving triubute to Pat Smullen on the anniversary of his passing, the Newbridge Gospel Choir were joined by a group of jockeys and recorded a version of Stand By Me in Newbridge. Taking solo parts were Declan McDonogh and Donagh O’Connor. With two fabulous voices, if Garth needs a warm up act, he could send his scouts to the weigh-room.
