GILLIAN Browne and her son Harry, from Laurel Lodge in Tullow, Co Carlow, achieved a notable feat at Naas last Sunday when two horses they bred were involved in the finish of the Grade 2 Johnstown Novice Hurdle at Naas. Harry bred runner-up Beacon Edge and his mum bred the third-placed Andy Dufresne, already a Grade 2 winner. The Brownes still have the two broodmares who are carrying full-siblings to the blacktype winners.

“The two mares are companions all year long and we also have two full-sister yearlings to Andy Dufresne and Beacon Edge,” reported Gillian. “In fact we have three full-sisters to ‘Andy’, including a four-year-old who we will probably be put into training.”
