TOP jockey Billy Lee is promoting the Children’s Health Foundation [CHF] on his racewear.

Following a visit to Crumlin Children’s Hospital by Billy and several other jockeys, Billy came up with the idea that the riders, through the Irish Jockeys Association, would both promote the Dublin hospital and raise awareness of the essential treatment being given to sick children at Crumlin.

The Irish Jockeys Association [IJA] will make a donation towards the hospital.

Billy said: “Through John Butler (racecourse physiotherapist), a few of us got to meet the staff and children at Crumlin and we were left humbled and in awe of the fantastic work being done there, and also realised that the hospital has a great need for funding.

“Rather than have a traditional racing sponsor’s name on my breeches and riding equipment, I thought it might help if I could carry the CHF logo to help raise awareness while, at the same time, myself and the other riders could raise some much needed money.”

Denise Fitzgerald, chief executive of CHF, said: “We are so grateful for the wonderful support of Billy and the IJA. Horseracing has a very special place in the hearts of so many people in Ireland and around the world. Throughout the lockdown, vital care and treatment for sick children continued at Crumlin. This donation will ensure that our frontline heroes continue to provide world-class care to our little patients.”
