Order Of St George, the three-time Group 1 winner, has been retired to stud.

The six-year-old was last seen finishing fourth to Stradivarius when competing in his third Gold Cup at Royal Ascot. He missed his intended run in the Irish St Leger Trial at the Curragh last month and wasn't among the entries for the final classic of the Irish season this afternoon.

He ran out a hugely impressive winner of the Irish St Leger in 2015 and 2017, by 11 lengths and by nine lengths respectively, and he enjoyed his finest moment when powering home to take the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot in 2016.

He will also be remembered for a titanic tussle with Big Orange in the two and a half mile contest last year, in which he just came out second best.

In all he won 13 times in 25 starts and was good enought to finish third and fourth in the 2016 and 2017 renewals of the Arc.
