Friday evening's Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh will be an all-Irish affair. As expected, all the overseas entries were withdrawn at Monday's acceptance stage. Under Government regulations, all overseas visitors to Ireland must quarantine for 14 days on arrival. While it is possible for British or French trainers to transport horses to Ireland and hand them over to Irish staff, this was never a likely option for connections of Group 1 quality horses.

Of the 15 Irish-trained entries still engaged, the Ger Lyons-trained Siskin catches the eye. Owned by Khalid Abdullah, Siskin won each of his four starts last term, culminating in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes, but was withdrawn at the start on his intended finale in the Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket after proving unruly in the stalls.

Aidan O’Brien has seven colts in the mix at this stage, headed by Armory who won at Group 2 and 3 level last term and was three times placed in Group 1 company.

Vatican City, Royal Lytham, Lope Y Fernandes, Hong Kong, Fort Myers and Monarch Of Egypt could also represent the Ballydoyle handler.

O’Brien’s son Joseph has two to pick from in Choice Of Mine and the unbeaten Crossfirehurricane, who landed a listed event on the all-weather in February.

Michael Halford is set to run Sinawann, who chased home Derby contender Mogul on his final outing of last season.

Jessica Harrington’s five-length maiden winner Free Solo also features, along with Andrew Slattery’s Rebel Tale and the Jim Bolger-trained pair of Agitare and Fiscal Rules.

The big race is due off at 6.40pm. The card, some of which will be shown live on RTÉ, also features the Irish Lincolnshire (7.15pm) and the Group 2 Mooresbridge Stakes (7.45pm).
