HORSE Racing Ireland chief executive Brian Kavanagh has expressed disappointment at the news that funding for the Irish racing industry will remain static in 2018.

Following Tuesday’s Budget, the Minister for Agriculture confirmed that racing will again receive €64 million next year. HRI had hoped for an increase following publication last month of a 60-page industry report which highlighted the economic impact of racing and breeding in rural Ireland and internationally.
