RACING on the dirt at Meydan saw a six-race card for the opening meeting of the season at the track. The night saw a number of doubles recorded on a programme that was sponsored by Emirates.

The feature was a seven-furlong conditions race and the winner Rio Angie, the only filly in the field, put almost nine lengths between herself and the rest. The winning jockey Sam Hitchcott, replacing Pat Dobbs who had suffered a foot injury riding out, sent the American-bred daughter of Honor Code straight to the front and even at halfway it was pretty evident they were not going to be caught.
