I was in London for the memorial service of Sir Peter O’Sullevan at St Luke’s Church in Chelsea. He was a boyhood hero of mine and I was therefore delighted to be asked to conduct the auction at his charity’s annual lunch for many years.

The memorial service has been well reported and featured various people as famous as Sir Peter himself. Terry Wogan and Joanna Lumley both gave readings, Britain’s top sports journalist Hugh Mcllvanney gave the address and the impressionist Rory Bremner (mainly in the unmistakeable voice of O’Sullevan) brought proceedings to their conclusion.
