WITH winners for Galileo and Dubawi, two of the day’s big prizes eluded the National Hunt store sales. The Willie Mullins RSA Chase winner Don Poli had significant vocal support from the Westmeath contingent and I learnt afterwards that both his mother and half-sister are with Harry and Lorna Fowler, which explained why they were looking so happy.

However, I got as much pleasure from the second Gigginstown winner Rivage D’Or. He was actually sold just six months ago at the DBS September Sale but an oversight meant that an old operation was not declared and the buyer objected, although the horse had won since. Such situations can be delicate to handle for sales companies but the vendors immediately agreed to cancel the sale and the rest, as they say, is history.
