I thought Vert De Grece (32-pace adjusted 35) was a good bet to take the Futurity Stakes following his smart win at Leopardstown where he finished so fast. Unfortunately the early pace wasn’t that strong and the winner Gleneagles (33-pace adjusted 36) had a very decent lead when Vert De Grece finally got rolling in the last quarter mile and he was closing the winner down quickly approaching the line.

Gleneagles is a good-bodied, mature colt who may prove a bit short of Group 1 class if my ratings are any guide. You could say the same of Vert De Grece but for the fact he is so obviously crying out for a longer distance. Here he looked like a 10-furlong horse running against a miler.
