WOOTTON Bassett will stand his first season at Coolmore Stud at a fee of €100,000. The new recruit was standing in France at a fee of €40,000 earlier this year, prior to being acquired privately by Coolmore.

Since his transfer to Ireland, Wootton Bassett has been represented by a glut of big-race winners, including Breeders’ Cup heroine Audarya, Prix de l’Abbaye winner Wooded and Group 2 winning juvenile Chindit. He is also the sire of Prix du Jockey Club and Champion Stakes winner Almanzor.

There are three other additions to the Coolmore roster for 2021. Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Sottsass will stand at €30,000, triple Group 1 winner Circus Maximus will be €20,000 and Coventry Stakes winner Arizona has been put in at €7,000.

Galileo’s fee remains private and, apart from Wootton Bassett, Camelot is the only Coolmore sire whose 2021 fee is higher than this year. The sire of Cox Plate winner Sir Dragonet and Irish Oaks victor Even So goes up slightly from €40,000 to €45,000.

Churchill (€30,000) and Starspangledbanner (€22,500) stay at the same fee, and all the other 18 Coolmore stallions have had their fees reduced.

The biggest drop, in terms of percentage decrease, is for The Gurkha, whose fee has gone from €12,500 to €5,000. Also at that bargain basement price is Rock Of Gibraltar (from €6,000).
