TRAINERS are being encouraged to upload copies of their horses’ passports to the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board website in advance of racing resuming on June 8th. Already 130 trainers have uploaded 2,500 passports to the site.

An IHRB spokesperson said: “This will assist a smooth and safe return to racing. The IHRB no longer need to inspect passports at the races and this was designed to prevent vaccination error issues on raceday and in the current Covid-19 climate it also reduces the interaction between people.

“Trainers upload the passport via the IHRB website and, once approved by the IHRB, the horse will then move to be cleared on a Vaccination App operated by Weatherbys. This project is part of a broader project to ultimately replace the paper passport.”
