THE two-day May Connemara Pony Sales held in Clifden last weekend returned a solid overall clearance rate of 78%, while a top price of €7,400 and a big number of overseas buyers indicated the market for Connemara Ponies continues to hold its own.

That top price came towards the end of Saturday’s session when, after a bidding battle, Sligo’s Gail McKeon eventually signed for the dun five-year-old gelding Forestview Sunlight, a late entry to the sale.
