A FIVE-day tour led by Teagasc, working alongside Jacques Verkerk of The Netherlands, and facilitated by travel partners Group Travel International, is taking place from September 23rd to 27th 2023.

The itinerary includes attending the FEI WBFSH Jumping World Breeding Championships for Young Horses at Zangersheide, Lanaken, Belgium. The remaining days are spent visiting farms in The Netherlands, incorporating a veterinary centre and a variety of farms engaged in breeding, producing and trading equines including:

  • Animal Embryo Centre, Maria Hoop, family business: vets and breeders
  • Stal Thijssen, family business: show jumping stable, breeders
  • Joop Breukink: former dairy farmer and breeder of show jumping horses
  • Stal Brinkman, family business: EU stud station; breeding, production and trade

    • Additional farms will be added to the itinerary in due course. Teagasc has successfully led many such tours over the years, which provide an opportunity not only to learn from the farms visited, but equally valuable are the connections and interactions made with fellow travellers.
