NAAS Racecourse has announced that Northern Irish bookmaker Toals.com will become the new sponsor of the €100,000 Leinster National, set to be run tomorrow week.

The three-mile contest became the richest steeplechase to be run at Naas when the prize money was upgraded last year and has 35 entries in for this year’s renewal.

The race features plenty of entries with engagements in the Irish Grand National next month. The Mouse Morris-trained Alpha Des Obeaux tops the weights, while Gordon Elliott has put forward seven runners including Mossback and the hat-trick seeking Poormans Hill.

The Meath trainer said: “We’ve put seven into the race and could run two or three but nothing is written in stone yet. You’d be thinking it could be a perfect opportunity to get a run into one or two before they have a crack at the Irish National.”

Also entered are last season’s third Sumos Novios and Tom Mullins’ Scoir Mear.
