NEWS: Three Aintree Grand National entries for sale
on 19 March 2021
Goffs will offer approximately 70 horses for sale in an online auction next Wednesday, March 24th

Three Grand National entrants for sale

THERE are three Grand National contenders among the 69 confirmed entries for next Wednesday’s Goffs Online March Sale.

Alpha Des Obeaux, Balko Des Flos and Ballyoptic will be offered for sale, with bidding on all lots opening at 10am and closing in lot order from noon. All three are guaranteed a run at Aintree if declared.

The timed online sale will follow that of a familiar eBay-style auction, meaning there will be no auctioneer and it will be open to the public to view. Prospective purchasers must register and be approved by Goffs to bid.

The 11-year-old Alpha Des Obeaux has won six races and was in action this week at Cheltenham, where he finished fourth in the Cross Country Chase. Grade 1 Ryanair Chase winner Balko Des Flos failed to complete in the same race, while multiple graded race winner Ballyoptic, also 11 years of age, has been unplaced in four starts so far this season.

The sale features predominantly National Hunt stock including several who were placed in bumpers and hurdle races recently.

There is a Motivator yearling filly catalogued who is a half-sister to Champion Hurdle winner Honeysuckle. Also catalogued are mares in foal to Frontiersman, New Approach and Westerner.

All horses are sold with veterinary certificates and buyers have until 5pm on Friday [March 26th] to appoint a vet of their choice to re-examine the horse for soundness and wind at the vendor’s premises.

Potential bidders must register by noon on Tuesday.
