LIMERICK solicitor David Sheehan took over the role of Irish Shows Association (ISA) president at its annual general meeting last weekend, when national secretary Michael Hughes announced his intention to bow out from his longstanding role at the 2018 AGM.

Sheehan, first elected to the ISA board in 1990, succeeded Clonaslee man Pat Corbet, whose two-year voluntary term ended last weekend. “I hope David gets as much from the presidency as I did, the two years have gone by so quickly,” said Corbet. “Agricultural shows are so important for keeping rural Ireland alive and the shows bring parishes and people together.”
