THE recently retired jump jockeys Ruby Walsh and Noel Fehily were honoured on Friday night at the McCoys, the awards which recognise excellence in jump racing.

Staged in Cheltenham Racecourse, the McCoys were established in 2017 and named in honour of Sir A.P. McCoy, the most successful jump jockey in the history of British jump racing.

Walsh was presented with the Outstanding Contribution award, while Fehily won the Judges Choice award. Walsh retired in May 1st at Punchestown after a stellar 24-year career. Like Walsh, Fehily bowed out with a winner on his final ride, which was at Newbury in March.

Altior was named Horse of the Season and his jockey Nico de Boinville picked up the Ride of the Season award for his effort on William Henry in the Coral Cup.

There was also a special ‘Horse Perfomance’ award for Tiger Roll, in recognition of his second Grand National success at Aintree.
