Ger Lyons is to enter his exciting colt Siskin in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The two-year-old, owned by Khalid Abdullah has impressed in both his starts to date, most recently winning the Listed Marble Hill Stakes at the Curragh.

In the immediate aftermath of that race, Lyons had mentioned the possibility of swerving the Royal meeting and instead aiming at the Railway Stakes before the Phoenix Stakes.

While he is not yet a definite to travel to Britain, he will have the option.

Lyons wrote on Twitter on Thursday: “After careful consideration and plenty of discussion we will hold an entry with Siskin in the Coventry Stakes at Ascot. It gives us options and a decision to run can be made at a later date.”

The Abdullah team won Coventry 12 months ago with the John Gosden-trained Calyx, who had been a leading contender for the Commonwealth Cup at this year’s meeting, only to be ruled out through injury.
