SIGNED racing silks and exclusive visits to leading racing stables are among the items available in an online auction in aid of Tiggy’s Trust, the charitable foundation established in memory of teenage equestrian Tiggy Hancock.
Tiggy’s life will be celebrated at Cheltenham Racecourse next Friday when Prestbury Park will “turn yellow” in honour of the Co Carlow youngster who lost her life in a riding accident earlier this year.
A separate charity auction is planned for Cheltenham but, in the meantime, bids are being taken online on over 40 items donated by supporters and family friends. Among the items on offer are J.P. McManus racing silks signed by A.P. McCoy, Gigginstown silks signed by Davy Russell, and private trips to the yards of top trainers Willie Mullins and Jonjo O’Neill.
Tiggy’s Trust will use the funds raised to assist young people by offering both mental health support to those who need it and also provide training and education to help young aspiring equestrians achieve their goals.
A spokesperson for the Hancock family said: “We are overwhelmed by the support we have and are receiving since Tiggy left us last June. Every day another incredible gesture comes from another part of the world. We know Tiggy would be so proud to see the line up of auction lots and the equestrian and racing celebrities attending Cheltenham on December 10th along with her many friends. Our aim through Tiggy’s Trust is to spread kindness and inclusivity and empower youths through mental health support, education and training.”
