RAISING the issue of equine welfare in the Dáil recently, Cork North Central Pádraig O’Sullivan (FF) revealed that fewer than 50 prosecutions for equine cruelty have taken place nationally over the last three years.
A new code had been developed to support horse owners to help prevent Antimicrobial resistance which is on the rise and presents a threat to animal and human health
The horse owner was ordered to pay €20,000 to the ISPCA by Navan District Court. Paul Murphy reports.
