Cheltenham Sale

after racing today

A TOTAL of 40 Lots have been catalogued for the Tattersalls Cheltenham January Sale which takes place after racing today [Saturday] in the Tattersalls Sale Ring at Cheltenham. Recent additions to the catalogue include Great Name That, consigned by Sean Doyle of Monbeg Stables. The five-year-old son of Flemensfirth was the eight-length winner of his maiden point-to-point at Turtulla on January 16th.

Maid Of The Night won her point-to-point bumper at Larkhill on Saturday and will be offered by Mark Grant Racing. Chris Barber will offer Satellite Receiver, a half-brother to Lord Windermere and Sub Lieutenant who broke his maiden at the same venue at the weekend.

‘Sore’ Ferny Hollow to miss rest of season

ARKLE Trophy favourite Ferny Hollow will miss the Cheltenham Festival, with connections opting to rest the seven-year-old for the remainder of the season because of a sore suspensory. “The scans are clear and everything, but he’s just feeling it a little bit,” trainer Willie Mullins said. “We had plenty of time to get him ready for Punchestown, but after discussing it with the owners we felt the best option might be to give him down time until next season.”
