FRANKIE Dettori remains on course to appear at Bellewstown on Wednesday, September 28th though the jockey has been forced to cancel his intended Listowel appearance a week earlier.

Dettori picked up a two-week ban when riding in Germany last Sunday. The suspension runs from September 18th to October 1st and the jockey does not plan to appeal the penalty.

Earlier this week Listowel Racecourse confirmed that Dettori would have to postpone his planned first visit to the Harvest Festival, but Bellewstown boss Kevin Coleman has confirmed that the rider will still be a part of the Barney Curley Charity Cup on September 28th.

“It was never the plan for Frankie to ride at the fixture,” Coleman explained. “He will captain a team of jockeys in the event, with Willie Mullins captain of the other team. We are hoping to attract some British-based riders to take part, but Frankie will be free to meet his fans.”

Dettori is due to participate in a golf classic at Baltray a day before the Bellewstown races. Both events are fundraisers for Direct Aid For Africa, the charity founded by the late Barney Curley, who was a close friend to Dettori.
