WITH Brexit triggering pending changes to the Tripartite Agreement (TPA), which governs the movement of horses between Ireland, Britain and France, Irish Horse World asked top UCD academic Dr Alan Fahey of the School of Agriculture and Food Science for his comments which are published in full below.

Dr Fahey commented: “As it stands the UK will leave the EU on March 30th 2019 at midnight Central European Time and become a “third country”. In a notice to stakeholders published on February 27th 2018, the European Commission clarified what this means for animal movement and is of particular interest to the Irish equine industry and the Tripartite agreement.
