BRYAN Cooper has lost his position as number one jockey to Gigginstown House Stud.

In a statement released by Gigginstown, it was revealed that Cooper was advised of this decision at a meeting with Michael O'Leary this afternoon.

Gigginstown plan to adopt a best-jockey-available policy, which will include the use of Cooper, on a race by race basis this year.

Cooper has been the number one jockey for Gigginstown over the past four years. He has enjoyed great success in the maroon and white silks with the highlight a Gold Cup win with Don Cossack in 2016. He rode seven Grade 1 winners for the O'Learys last season, three of which came on Apple's Jade.
