THE covering fee for Lope De Vega will jump by 33% to €80,000 for 2019 following the outstanding success of his two-year-olds this season.

Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner Newspaperofrecord made the world sit up and take notice of her sire last Friday, while classic-bound colt Phoenix Of Spain is close to the top-rated two-year-olds in Europe.

Lope De Vega (by Shamaradal) sired 26 individual two-year-old winners this year and seven individual stakes winning two-year-olds.

New Bay’s first foals went through the ring yesterday and created a stir (see page 34). His new fee of €15,000 represents a 25% reduction and could be very good value.

Make Believe (€12,000) gets a 20% drop and breeders are invited to take a punt on his first runners which will hit the track in 2019. His yearlings made up to 210,000gns and had an average of €45,000 with the buyers including Shadwell Estate, Sackville Donald, Mark Johnston, Hugo Merry, Nick Bradley and Mick Flanagan.

Fascinating Rock’s first foals enter the ring later this month and will be standing at €7,500 in 2019, a drop of 25%. Both Newtown Anner and Ballylinch Stud say they will be supporting the stallion at the sales.

The dual-purpose Beat Hollow (€5,000) gets a slight trim in fee.

Haras de Grandcamp will continue to stand Ballylinch’s Dream Ahead (€12,000) in 2019, and he will now be joined by Lawman (€15,000).
