AIDAN O’Brien’s one time Derby contender Amedeo Modigliani may reappear in the Royal Whip Stakes at the Curragh on August 26th.

The exciting Galway maiden winner this time last year hasn’t been seen yet this season. O’Brien said: “He’s coming along and is getting closer to making his comeback. It’s possible that he could be just about ready to start back in the Royal Whip.”

O’Brien also had news on some of the Ballydoyle stars that have not been seen recently. Last year’s Irish Derby and St Leger winner Capri, who was sidelined with a setback following his winning reappearance in the Alleged Stakes at Naas in April, is also a possible to make his return in the Royal Whip Stakes. The grey is being aimed towards a possible tilt at the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

In other news Mendelssohn is reported to have come out of his recent trip to America in good shape. He is being prepared for the $1.25m Travers Stakes at Saratoga on August 25th where he will meet last weekend's Haskell winnner Good Magic.

A number of other Ballydoyle inmates are set to head to America in the coming weeks. Deauville, who has finished third in the last two runnings of the Arlington Million, will bid to make it third time lucky this year.

He will be joined in Chicago by Hunting Horn and Lucius Tiberius who will bid to give O’Brien a fifth victory in the Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes.

Michael Halford's Platimum Warrior is also a likely runner in this race.

On the same card, Happily is a possible contender for the Grade 1 Beverly D Stakes, which has thus far eluded her trainer.
