EQUINE welfare concerns are at the heart of stalled negotiations between Horse Sport Ireland and two Government Departments as the beleagured €816m Irish Sport Horse Industry has been forced to a sudden halt under Level 5 restrictions.

With some 14,057 full-time industry jobs at risk in the Irish Sport Horse industry – which is worth almost €1 billion to the country’s ailing economy each year – the stakes could not now be higher.
