CAMBRIDGE trainer Tony Pike will have a strong hand to play in the New Zealand Derby on March 5th, training the quinella in the Group 2 Waikato Guineas at Te Rapa last Saturday. The Pike pair of Rangipo and Raghu took up forward positions from their wide gates in the 2,000 metre set-weight event.
Challenged only by the Street Sense gelding Get That Jive, the trio hit the line hard, with the Stryker gelding Rangipo winning by a nose from his stablemate, and Karaka 3YO Mile winner, the Showcasing colt Raghu, with a short-head to Get That Jive.
