AMATEUR riders accounted for the top two placings in the 1.10m Lake County Ladies Championship.

Taking the win was AA rider Lisa Doyle with Corland’s Clipper when they galloped home in 31.68.

Fellow AA rider Lorraine Younge and Belfieldflight followed closely behind, stopping the clock in 32.36. Clodagh Lee and Erne Cruising Breeze took third place, clear in 33.23, ahead of young rider Rose Dolan and Cornets Princess, clear in 35.19.

Fifth place belonged to Jamie Chellar and Interstellar, clear in 35.42, while in sixth place was AA rider Tara Brandon and Ice Cream, clear in 36.01.

Doyle wins Amateur Championship

Riding her own Corland’s Clipper, Doyle also won the Amateur Championship when she lodged the winning clear round in 33.33.

Fellow AA rider Caroline Ryan came closest in a time of 42.32 with her own six-year-old Tankardstown Distinguished. Ross Hegarty (A) proved fastest of the four-faulters with his own six-year-old Launes Mist in 37.60 for third place.

Grainne Alexander also had one on the ground with Cheeky Blonde but in the slower time of 40.31 for fourth place.

Joanna Penfold crossed the line carrying five faults with King Cruise in 45.73 for fifth place, ahead of Johnnie Fitzpatrick (AA) and Saunders Beach Ball Cruise, who finished on 12 faults in a time of 43.85.

Gaffney clinches win

Winner of the Lilliputt 1m Championship was Kildare’s Julieann Gaffney with MVS Ladybird when they were fastest of the double clears in 35.21. Following closely behind was amateur rider Patricia Woods (A) aboard Crissaun Just Joey in 37.68.

Fellow amateur rider Jacqui Boland (AA) took third place with Maverick Na Ri, clear in 39.36, ahead of young rider Aaron Gorman and Deerpairc Disney in 41.19.

Peter Dargan made a welcome return to the line-up as he took fifth place with Ballivor Man when he had one on the ground in 33.15. Completing the top six were Rebecca Duffy McAndrew and Bellscross Aldatus Cruise with four faults in 40.78.
