1. A race fitting of the occasion

The feelgood factor was palpable at the Curragh yesterday. You could even feel it through the cameras of RTÉ. All day long, the build-up to Pat Smullen’s Champions Race for Cancer Trials Ireland complemented the already top-class action. By the time the race came around, the anticipation to see all these legends back in the saddle, for the worthiest of causes, was bursting at the seams.
