SHE wasn’t the best mare in training, far from it, but Missunited captured the public imagination in a special way which cannot be achieved by any marketing or PR campaign. She worked her way into the hearts of the Irish racing public in a way that very few horses do and this culminated at Glorious Goodwood. It was a surreal experience to stand underneath the big screen beside the weigh room at Galway on Thursday and look back at the sight of a parade ring of people and the crowd as a whole transfixed not with what was happening in front of them at Galway, but on the action broadcast from Goodwood as the uncrowned queen of Galway tried to gain her first group race success.
