MULLINGAR breeder Louis Vambeck will have a good Christmas, reflecting on two record-breaking prices his horses made at Goffs during the year.
Just last week Vambeck sold a colt foal by Walk In The Park for €90,000. It was the highest priced National Hunt foal ever sold at Goffs and it was bought by Co Armagh businessman Patrick McCann.
It was McCann who, back in June of this year, sold the €325,000 Land Rover sale-topper and he was also bred by Vambeck, who had sold the son of Flemensfirth as a foal for €110,000 at Tattersalls Ireland.
Other notable Vambeck transactions this year included a Kapgarde colt foal he sold for €57,000 to Ben Case at Tattersalls Ireland, €50,000 for a Presenting filly foal from the family of Master Minder, and a three-year-old filly by No Risk At All which he sold for £65,000 to Kieran McManus at the Goffs UK Spring Sale.
Vambeck commented: “It has been an unbelievable year. I must thank Michael Moore of Ballincurrig House, and his head lass Nuala Healy, for doing a superb job in preparing my horses for the sales, and of course Patrick McCann for buying the top lots. My neighbour Sean Gorman, who sourced the dam of the Land Rover sale-topper for me, farriers Mattie and Ciaran Smith, and Paudie O’Reilly of Mullingar Equine Vets have also played a big part in the results.”
