THE first major Irish yearling sale of the season takes place at Tattersalls Ireland from Tuesday to Thursday. Over 700 yearlings are catalogued and Tattersalls Ireland director Simon Kerins says the indications are that the sale will be “very, very strong”.

Last year’s sale saw an average price of over €18,000 for those sold in Part 1 of the sale on the first two days. The top price was €115,000 and the number of horses which sold for €30,000 or more jumped from 46 to 67. Turnover grew by 8% last year to €7.5 million.
