NO doubt Wilson Dennison was disappointed that his Gordon Elliott-trained newcomer, Ballymoney, the 9/4 favourite, could only finish fourth in the bumper at Punchestown on Wednesday, but he saw his black and white quartered colours carried to victory last Saturday at Loughanmore.

The win came courtesy of his granddaughter, Anna McCaldin, who, aged 14, won the EI100 for ponies on the 18-year-old Mon Ami Tonnerre and yes, as landowner, Wilson was able to attend this fixture. As one would guess, his main interest lay in the cross-country phase and he kept a close eye on Anna’s progress by following her around in his jeep!
