OISIN Orr had mixed fortune on his three rides for Richard Fahey last Thursday week at Ripon where things didn’t start too well when, on board the 5/6 favourite, Dare To Hope, in the six-furlong two-year-old novice race, he was beaten a short-head into second by Paul Mulrennan on the 50/1 shot Grey Force One.

However, the Co Donegal native went on to win the 10-furlong handicap on the eight-year-old Arcano gelding Society Red and the six-furlong handicap on Absolute Dream.

The latter, a six-year-old gelded son of Dream Ahead, was bred at the Meadowlands Stud, Downpatrick by Brian and Ann Marie Kennedy. He is the only recorded produce out of the winning Monsieur Bond mare Absolute Diamond, a full-sister to Move In Time whose 11 successes included victory by a head in the Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp in 2014.

From last Thursday week to Wednesday, there were wins also on the level in Britain for Patsy Cosgrave (two), Martin Harley and Barry McHugh and, over jumps, for Danny McMenamin and Brian Hughes. The last-named recorded his 25th success of the season at Worcester on Wednesday on the Donald McCain-trained Gaelik Coast.
