WHEN we spoke to Cumbria-based Danny McMenamin last May he said that for the 2020/21 season he would “love to win the conditional jockeys’ championship, lose my claim and keep improving”.

Going in reverse, the 20-year-old from Downpatrick has kept improving, lost his claim last Sunday and, at time of writing on Wednesday evening, led the conditional jockeys’ table on 30 wins ahead of Co Cork-born Bryan Carver (25) and Max Kendrick (22).
