AS a true blue Dub it pains me to write this but, because of his connection with racing, we have to wish all the best to Conor McKenna and the rest of the Tyrone team as they take on Mayo in today’s All-Ireland final at Croke Park.

Conor, who scored two goals for the Red Hand county in their 3-14 to 0-22 defeat of Kerry in the rescheduled semi-final at Croker late last month, goes into today’s match seeking to join a select group of players (one of whom was a Dub!) who played in the AFL (Australian Football League) before coming home to win an All-Ireland medal. McKenna made 79 appearances for the Melbourne club Essendon for whom he first played in 2015.
