FOUR of the five meetings due to be held in Britain last weekend went ahead with mixed luck for Irish-breds. Six of the seven winners at Cottenham on Saturday carried an IRE suffix, while, the following afternoon, none from a similar number at Duncombe Park did so.

At that Sinnington Hunt fixture, Cherry Coward saddled two winners for Richard Morris, the second of whom, The Highlander, landed the mixed open by 15 lengths in the hands of John Dawson. The French-bred, who has three other point-to-point victories to his credit, spoiled an otherwise perfect afternoon for British breeders.
